With so many people now producing their own CD's, the major labels have to be hurting. If it were not for all the treasured stuff they keep in their vaults (like many recordings on the JAZZLIST) , they'd be on the way out.
This is the foundation to all great music. The better the tune, the better the solos.

Make no mistake about it - the jazz world is not what it once was. I'm speaking for the American side. Perhaps, it can be compared to the NBA. There's really only a few teams worth watching each season - the rest are just mediocrity at best. Other countries have improved - I don't think we have - there is just too much sameness and complacency in things today. Everyone just seems to go along.
Where have all the innovators gone?
