WORDS & MUSIC by Cy Green - Jim Miller
Way back long ago lived a legend we all know,
and he blew his sweet horn,
like no one had done before.
What a sound he had, CLIFFORD BROWN was warm and so bad.
But on a dark and lonely road,
the Lord took CLIFFORD home.
All the years can go by now,
but time never really changes
I hear his trumpet today.
You know he was a genius -
I mean really a true genius,
he'll never be back this way again.
There was so much more
from this young mans' gorgeous horn.
He was brilliant and so new,
when he left this world too soon.

We're trying to raise money to hire singers & musicians

Hi, I'm Bill Bohannon ...
This LIST is for a cause. If you believe the
JAZZ WORLD could use some new songs,
then you are welcome to help.
There is a major gap in quality songs written
after 1970 that can be associated with Jazz.
Cy Green & Jim Miller can help plug that up a
little, if ever given a chance. They are truly
decent writers, and their music is long over-due.
Dig down in those pockets and help us out,
and get a copy of this fine JAZZLIST.

This JAZZLIST is
really big on the years
1945 - 1965
the greatest years in the history of Jazz!
We favor Straight-Ahead acoustic sounds, but are not limited to just that. We start at the beginning of the modern era, the COUNT BASIE Band of 1935.
Meaningful Avant Garde LP's are included - nothing chaotic. And FUSION is skipped entirely. All those GREAT Mainstream recordings up to 1990 are here. If your collection lacks this genre, this is a must-have.

"No, I don't care much for the jazz scene today."
Perhaps age, and just hearing too much -
too long has done it. But not much new stuff
I hear excites me these days. A lot of it sounds
alike - slick and clean with no Heart & Soul.
Then again, maybe I just have not heard the
right stuff.
"Give me those good ol' good ones any day of the week."

Two young people in music have come to my attention this year. One is steeped in the Frank Sinatra tradition and the other is a singer/writer living in a time warp (God bless her.)
DAKOTA HORVATH Vocalist Chicago, IL
JILL BARBER Singer/Songwriter Canada
The music world needs both of them and quickly. It's been ten years since the Chairmans' death and nearly five decades since the end of the Standard Song Era.
Only youth can start the flame again. This website wishes both of these young talents success and popularity.

On 9/1/09 I checked the TOP 100 Best Sellers at Amazon. Only 3 were remotely close to jazz. All VOCAL LP's:
#52 Harry Connick Jr. "YOUR SONGS" #73 Diana Krall "QUIET KNIGHTS"
#92 Frank Sinatra JR! "THAT FACE!"
I've always believed, if you can do GREAT VOCAL VERSIONS of new songs, the instrumental versions will follow.
This is why we created this website.
PLEASE help us do this!
